Kamalini's Fifty and Spinners’ Brilliance Secure India's Spot in the Final
Defending champions India U19 Women's Cricket Team stormed into the final of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup after a commanding nine-wicket victory over England in the semi-finals. A well-paced fifty by G Kamalini and a superb bowling performance by India's spinners sealed the comprehensive win.
India will now face South Africa in the final on Sunday. South Africa reached their first-ever ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup final after defeating Australia by five wickets in the first semi-final.
India’s Spinners Restrict England to 113/8
England started their innings on a strong note, reaching 37/0 in five overs, but India's disciplined bowling attack soon turned the tide.
Parunika Sisodia (3/21) and Vaishnavi Sharma (3/23) bowled brilliantly, dismantling England's middle and lower order.
England’s over-reliance on sweep and paddle shots led to six bowled dismissals, with five players getting castled while attempting these shots.
A promising 44-run partnership between Davina Perrin (45 off 40, 6x4s, 2x6s) and Abigale Norgrove (30 off 25, 3x4s, 1x6) helped England stabilize at 73/2 in 10 overs.
However, the second half of their innings saw a collapse, with only 40 runs scored in the final 10 overs and six wickets lost.
England tumbled to 92/8 by the 16th over, ultimately finishing at 113/8 in 20 overs.
Sisodia, named Player of the Match, credited her accuracy and strategy for the crucial breakthroughs:
"I bowled on the same spot and let the ball do the work. The final is our wish and our ultimate goal."
Kamalini’s Unbeaten 56* Guides India to an Easy Chase
Chasing 114, India’s openers G Trisha (35 off 29, 5x4s) and G Kamalini (56 off 50, 8x4s)* provided a steady start, ensuring a comfortable victory.
Trisha attacked from the outset, scoring fluently down the ground, helping India reach 44/0 in the Powerplay.
Kamalini had a lucky escape when England captain Abigale Norgrove dropped her catch, but she capitalized on the opportunity.
Even after Trisha was bowled by Phoebe Brett, Kamalini anchored the innings with an unbeaten 47-run stand with *Sanika Chalke (11)**.
India chased down 117 in just 15 overs, finishing at 117/1.
Kamalini’s approach was marked by precise placement and clever shot selection, frustrating England's bowlers who ran out of answers.
