PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen To Lead India In Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2025

India is gearing up for the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2025, scheduled to take place in Qingdao, China, from February 11 to 16. The 14-member Indian squad will be led by double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and World Championships bronze winner Lakshya Sen, signaling India’s intent to make a strong impact at the tournament.

Having clinched a bronze medal in the last edition held in Dubai in 2023, the Indian team is now setting its sights on a finals appearance. “The national selectors have given importance to the world rankings and current form of the players while selecting the squad,” stated the Badminton Association of India (BAI) in a press release.

Star-Studded Line-Up

The Indian squad features a mix of seasoned players and promising talent. Leading the charge in singles events will be Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy on the men’s side, with PV Sindhu and Malvika Bansod representing women’s singles. In doubles, India boasts formidable pairings like Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who have consistently delivered stellar performances on the global stage.

In women’s doubles, the combinations of Gayatri Gopichand-Treesa Jolly and Ashwini Ponnappa-Tanisha Crasto offer versatility and experience. The mixed doubles event will feature Tanisha Crasto teaming up with Dhruv Kapila, while Sathish Kumar and Adya Variyath form another pairing.

Eyes on the Prize

BAI secretary general Sanjay Mishra expressed confidence in the team’s capabilities, stating, “We did well by winning the bronze medal two years ago, but the target this year is to reach the finals. From there, anything is possible, and we will go all out.”

With a perfect blend of experienced champions and young talent, the Indian team is poised to make a strong bid for the title. Fans eagerly await the tournament to witness some of the most thrilling badminton action as India aims for new heights in Qingdao.
