Madhya Pradesh Shooter Ashi Chouksey Surpasses Previous Record with Outstanding Score of 598

In a remarkable display of precision and skill, 22-year-old shooter Ashi Chouksey from Madhya Pradesh set a new national record in the qualification of women's 50m rifle 3 positions event at the 38th National Games. Chouksey achieved an exceptional score of 598, surpassing the previous record of 594 set by Sift Kaur Samra in 2023.

Chouksey's journey in shooting began during her school years at Carmel Convent, BHEL, Bhopal, where she joined the NCC in Class 9 and learned the basics of shooting. She later pursued formal training at the MP State Shooting Academy under coaches Suma Shirur and Vaibhav Sharma. Her dedication and hard work have been evident throughout her career, leading to significant achievements on both national and international stages.

In 2022, Chouksey secured a gold medal in the mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup in Baku and a bronze in the team event at the ISSF World Cup in Changwon. She also won a silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle team event at the 2022 Asian Games. In 2024, during the National shooting selection trials, she shot a world record score of 597 in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions event, breaking the previous world record of 596.

Reflecting on her recent accomplishment, Chouksey expressed gratitude to her support system, stating, "I worked very hard for this, and I believe the credit goes to everyone who has supported me, including my coach, sponsors, family, and friends. Each one of them has played a role in my victory today. This is a moment of pride for me, especially because there was no one from my sport before, and here I am, achieving this milestone."

Chouksey's record-breaking performance at the National Games not only highlights her exceptional talent but also reinforces her status as one of India's top rifle shooters. Her precision and consistency across kneeling, prone, and standing positions have set a new benchmark in the sport, inspiring aspiring shooters nationwide.
