Real Kashmir Continue Their Home Dominance with a 2-0 Victory Over Shillong Lajong
The icy winds of Srinagar could not cool down the fiery spirit of Real Kashmir FC as they secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Shillong Lajong FC in their latest I-League 2024-25 encounter. Goals from Aminou Bouba and Kamal Issah ensured that the Snow Leopards maintained their formidable unbeaten home record, making it eight consecutive matches without a loss (five wins, three draws).
Match Highlights
First Half: Bouba’s Header Breaks the Deadlock
Real Kashmir began the match with intent, pressing high and controlling possession. Despite Shillong Lajong’s early attempts to establish a foothold, their attacking efforts were neutralized by Real Kashmir’s disciplined defensive line.
Lajong had their best opportunities in the first half when Figo Syndai’s powerful strike from distance forced a fine save from Real Kashmir’s goalkeeper, Zahid Bukhari. Moments later, Phrangki Buam’s long-range effort rattled the crossbar, underlining Lajong’s early attacking threat.
However, the deadlock was broken in the added minutes of the first half. A long throw-in from the left found Cameroonian defender Aminou Bouba, who expertly guided a header past Lajong’s goalkeeper, Ranit Sarkar, scoring his third goal of the season. This crucial goal put Real Kashmir in the driver’s seat as they entered halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Second Half: Issah’s Late Strike Seals the Deal
With a one-goal advantage, Real Kashmir came out even stronger in the second half, while Lajong struggled to break through the hosts’ well-structured defensive formation.
Lajong pushed forward in search of an equalizer but found themselves constantly thwarted by Real Kashmir’s resolute defense. Any half-chances that came their way were either blocked or comfortably dealt with by Bukhari in goal.
As the match neared its end, Real Kashmir delivered the final blow in the 88th minute. Mohammed Aqib launched a perfectly timed long ball towards Ghanaian midfielder Kamal Issah, who displayed immense strength and composure to outmuscle Maxderidoff Wahlang and slot the ball past an advancing Sarkar. The late goal ensured all three points stayed in Srinagar, extending Real Kashmir’s dominance on home turf.
