South Africa Struggles as India’s Bowlers Wreak Havoc

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, South Africa found themselves in deep trouble early on. Indian bowlers, led by left-arm spinner Aayushi Shukla (4-2-9-2) and Trisha (3/15), dismantled the South African batting order. Parunika (4-0-6-2) and right-arm seamer Shabnam Shakil (2-0-7-1) also chipped in with crucial wickets.

South Africa’s key batter, Simone Lourens, departed for a duck, setting the tone for a difficult innings. Jemma Botha (10) and captain Kayla Reyneke (7) tried to stabilize the innings, but India’s relentless attack restricted them to a meager 82 runs in 20 overs.

Trisha and Sanika Lead the Chase to Glory

India’s chase was never in doubt, thanks to Trisha’s aggressive stroke play. Despite losing opener Kamalini G (8) at 36/1, India maintained their momentum with ease. Vice-captain Sanika Chalke (26* off 22) provided excellent support, sealing the victory with a powerful boundary.

After hitting the winning runs, Sanika expressed her emotions, saying, “I've dreamt of this moment for the past two years. My teammates' support made all the difference, and this is a moment I’ll cherish forever.”

India’s Road to Victory: A Perfect Campaign

India’s dominance in the tournament was unparalleled. They won all their group matches against the West Indies, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka before continuing their winning streak in the Super Six stage against Bangladesh and Scotland. A commanding semi-final victory over England further cemented their place in the final.
